[ARCHIVED] HEADLINERS ANNOUNCED FOR SUMMER CONCERTS

Mount Pleasant’s free summer concert series at Campus Park returns in 2025 with blues musician and Racine native Stephen Hull headlining the opening show on June 17.

Formerly called Mount Pleasant Music, the Sounds at Sunset series brings the community together for four Tuesday evenings of music, food, and fun. The concert series organized by the Village of Mount Pleasant Tourism Commission began last year. It returns even bigger in 2025 with four new bands and a rotating fleet of food trucks that will serve everything from tacos and barbecue, to cookies and ice cream sandwiches.

“This is a free event for the entire community. Just show up and have fun,” said Matt Prochaska, Mount Pleasant Tourism Manager. “These concerts are another way we’re making Mount Pleasant, and the region, a destination for culture and recreation.”

The Sounds at Sunset 2025 concert lineup is:

Stephen Hull

Tuesday, June 17 – Stephen Hull Experience

Born in 1999 and a native of Racine, Stephen Hull started playing blues at age 14 and never stopped, taking cues from Albert King and B.B. King as he developed his sweet, soulful guitar sound. Balancing that with his stellar lead vocals and infectiously buoyant personality, Hull has been rising fast in the blues clubs of Chicago and venues across southeastern Wisconsin.

LoveMonkeys 2023

Tuesday, July 8 – The LoveMonkeys

A top-drawing band in Wisconsin for 30-plus years, The LoveMonkeys’ high-energy, jam-packed performances are filled with pop hits, reggae rhythms and one-of-a-kind medleys. No two LoveMonkeys shows are alike, and the band’s devoted fans often travel miles to dance on stage or shake a tambourine with the guys.

Betsy Ade & the Well-Known Strangers

Tuesday, July 29 – Betsy Ade & the Well-Known Strangers

Betsy Ade & the Well-Known Strangers (BAWKS) have been entertaining Midwest audiences with their cello-infused alternative pop/rock sound since 2015. Ade was a Top 24 Contestant on NBC's "The Voice,” and BAWKS has performed with international acts that include Melissa Etheridge, Blind Melon, Shawn Colvin, the Gufs and Sebastian Bach.

Dancing Queen Band Photo

Tuesday, August 19 – Dancing Queen: An ABBA Salute

The ultimate tribute to the music of ABBA that is sure to capture the hearts of fans and audiences of all ages! Their live show is full of musical prowess, fabulous flair and fashion, and promises a mesmerizing ABBA experience for every Chiquitita, Super Trouper, Fernando, and Dancing Queen around.

Sounds at Sunset concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. at Campus Park located at 8500 Campus Drive in Mount Pleasant. They are free, public events, and the park’s playgrounds and splash pad will be open. Parking is available on-site, and nearby at Mount Pleasant Village Hall and surrounding streets.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair to picnic on Campus Park’s Great Lawn in front of the bandshell. Grab dinner from local food trucks, and cool off with a refreshing beer or wine available for purchase from the Racine Founder’s Rotary Club. Please note: No carry-in alcohol or glass containers are allowed.
