The Village of Mount Pleasant hired Patrick Brever to take a leading role in community development as the new Deputy Village Administrator.
Brever is scheduled to start in early February. As Deputy Village Administrator, Brever will be heavily involved in Mount Pleasant’s ongoing economic development efforts in addition to supporting operations of all Village government departments. That includes working with existing businesses, attracting new ones, and coordinating tax incremental financing districts and development agreements.
“I have been passionate about local government and public service since my first job in high school with Oak Creek's parks and recreation department,” Brever said. “I will support balanced growth by attracting and retaining businesses that create job opportunities and expand Mount Pleasant’s tax base to help pay for public services our residents need.”
Brever previously served for eight years in South Milwaukee, including most recently as City Administrator overseeing city government operations, and as Economic Development Director. He was involved with restoring an historic South Milwaukee building to create the Bucyrus Club & Event Center, and development of the Bucyrus Commons downtown plaza and amphitheater. He represented the city in discussions that attracted manufacturer Steele Solutions’ corporate headquarters to South Milwaukee.
Brever in 2020 earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Mount Pleasant is among the fastest growing communities in Wisconsin in terms of new property value. Ongoing projects include Microsoft’s data center in Tax Incremental Financing District No. 5, and three housing developments underway along Spring Street/County Highway C.
Brever will continue that momentum working with the Village’s existing Community Development Department, and regional partners including the Racine County Economic Development Corp.
Tami Simons previously served as Mount Pleasant’s Deputy Village Administrator. The position has been open since Simons became Village Administrator in November 2024. The Village posted the job opening in fall, and selected Brever after considering applications from a range of qualified candidates.
“Patrick’s skills in government administration and community development are matched only by his enthusiasm for serving the public,” Simons said. “He’s a valuable addition to our team as Mount Pleasant continues to evolve.”
