[ARCHIVED] SHAPE THE FUTURE OF VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS

A hand writing in marker.

The public is invited to review and provide feedback on conceptual plans to improve four Village of Mount Pleasant neighborhood parks. The planning team will be available to discuss the concepts during a public Open House scheduled on Wednesday, June 4, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the Ebe Auditorium of Mount Pleasant Village Hall, 8811 Campus Drive.

The Village, in consultation with MSA Professional Services, drafted plans to maintain and improve four Village Parks:

  • Dirkse Park, 5201 Piper Lane
  • Drozd Park, 2420 North Newman Road
  • James Turek Park, 5855 Regency Hills Drive
  • Pheasant Creek, 6310 Pheasant Creek Trail

The Village unveiled these designs in spring. They include new playground equipment, picnic areas, accessible paved trails, and native plants.

The draft plans are a direct result of public feedback received during input sessions and surveys held since fall 2024. The draft concepts and more information about the initiative are available online. A flyer for the open house (PDF) is also available.

The Village will use these plans as the basis for future park improvement funding and grant requests. The improvements, designed to enhance and preserve the four parks, align with Mount Pleasant’s 2030 Strategic Plan and Park and Open Space Plan: 2050. They call for parks that meet the current and future needs of Village residents, supporting the long-term Village Vision: “To be the Midwest’s most welcoming, forward-thinking, and dynamic community to call home.”
