The Mount Pleasant Police Department is selling T-shirts and sweatshirts through October 26 in a fundraiser to support its K9 Unit.
The department currently has three K9 officers—Aspen, Grizzly, and Kala—that perform important tasks in ways that their human counterparts sometimes cannot. They are trained to sniff out narcotics, track missing persons or hidden suspects, and Kala is among only seven K9 officers in the State of Wisconsin who can detect hidden electronic devices.
To support the K9 Unit’s ongoing operations, MPPD is hosting an online sale with a range of K9 Unit clothes featuring the police pups’ silhouettes and names. That sale will continue through Sunday, October 26th.
People can also support the K9s year-round by purchasing challenge coins for $20 apiece at the MPPD records window in the Mount Pleasant Police Department, at 8811 Campus Drive. Each coin is embossed with pictures of the K9 officers, with details about the work they perform in the department.
