According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), reconstruction of WIS 31 (Green Bay Road), between WIS 11 (Durand Avenue) and WIS 20 (Washington Avenue), will begin in early 2026. The project is scheduled to span two years, from 2026 through 2027. Construction will be split into two phases to help minimize impacts. Work between WIS 11 and Margery Drive will be conducted in 2026. Work between Castle Court and WIS 20 will happen in 2027.
This project is a significant reconstruction of the roadway, including the installation of storm sewer, pavement, traffic signals, and a new sidewalk. Additionally, temporary traffic signals and temporary pavement need to be constructed to facilitate traffic during the project. Spreading the construction over two years, with half of the project being completed each year, allows for adequate time to relocate utilities and for the contractor to complete both the temporary and permanent work.
