If you’re looking for a place to play, Mount Pleasant offers activities, events and attractions that are sure to keep you and your family occupied. We operate an extensive park system that includes playgrounds, trails, fishing, baseball diamonds, soccer and lacrosse complexes, and lakes for you to explore! Regular events include beer gardens, movies under the stars, food truck and music festivals, and so much more! For an attraction unlike any other, Racine also has their very own zoo, located along Lake Michigan and just six miles northeast of Mount Pleasant.

Parks & Recreational Activities

Depending on which part of Mount Pleasant you visit, you’ll more than likely come across one of our 14 parks. Our parks contain playgrounds, baseball diamonds, sand volleyball courts, walking trails, and shelter and picnic facilities, complete with easy entrance access and free parking. We have a little something to meet every outdoor adventurer’s needs. Ask our hotels about bike and ski rentals!

Pike River Pathway

An off road, 10-foot wide asphalt recreational trail that houses 300 acres of recreational trails, perfect for biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing during any season. It extends north and south through the center of Mount Pleasant with access to the reconstructed Pike River corridor.

  • Willow Road (At Racine County Trail/SCJ Waxdale near 2610 Willow Road)
  • Durand Avenue (East of Cottage Drive near 7612 Durand Avenue)

Caledonia-Mount Pleasant Memorial Park

A 52-acre, premier destination for over 50 years. It contains a hall and a few shelters available to rent for family, community, and corporate functions.

Cozy Acres Park

A 27-acre conservancy area, located in the center of Mount Pleasant, bordering the City of Racine. Some of Racine County’s Racine-Kansasville Trail runs through the site, which also includes woodlands and wetlands within 17 acres of isolated natural resource area.

Karen A. Nelson Memorial Dog Park

Our dog park adjacent to Quarry Lake Park, offering separate fenced-in grass areas for different-sized dogs.

Smolenski Park

A 70-acre sprawling nature and wildlife preserve, featuring hiking trails including one that leads to a large pond with an overlooking deck. It also provides a softball diamond, sand volleyball, basketball and horseshoe courts, and a European-style picnic pavilion.

Stewart-McBride Park

One of our smaller parks at just 16 acres. It has two groomed softball fields, two sand volleyball courts, and expansive playground equipment.

Campus Park

Campus Park is located at 8500 Campus Drive. Campus Park is part of the Village complex which includes the Mount Pleasant Village Hall, Racine Family YMCA, Campus Park and the future Mount Pleasant Veterans Memorial Convention Center. Campus Park includes the Greenwood Family Playground, hiking trails and a six-court pickleball complex that provides entertainment for the whole family.

RUSD Aquatic Center

Brand new and open for use! Competition pool is 10 Lanes, 7ft to 14ft deep, adjustable distance (25 yard, 25 meter.) Attached diving well with two 1-meter boards and two 3-meter boards. Warm Up pool is 4 lanes, 25 yards, 3 to 5 feet deep, with ADA ramp. Generally, hours for morning lap swims are Monday-Friday 6:00-8:15 AM and evening lap swims Monday-Friday 3:30-7:00 PM. Pool is open to residents.

Throughout the year, Mount Pleasant’s Parks and Recreation department holds a variety of events including pop-up beer gardens, which begin in late May, featuring more local and craft beers like Spotted Cow. There is also the Franksville Food Truck Festival, Mount Pleasant Day, which is held annually in September, the Italian Festival hosted at Roma Lodge and so much more! Many of these events include a number of food trucks with a wide range of food, from Mexican and Italian to American and German!

Racine Raiders – Wisconsin’s Oldest Semi-Pro Football Team

The City of Racine even has their own Mid-States Football League (MSFL) team, the Racine Raiders. As the oldest semi-pro football team in existence today, the Racine Raiders have nine National Championships under their belt since 1953. You can catch them in action at 7 p.m. CST, Saturdays, from June to October, on the historic Horlick Athletic Field in Racine.

Brighton Dale Links

This public golf course is host to the annual Kenosha County Open and Junior Golf leagues such as clinics and PGA Junior League. There are two separate but challenging courses to choose from, the White Birch and Blue Spruce with 18-holes and the Red Pine with 9-holes. The complex features a well-stocked Golf Shop, club and cart rentals, practice range and The Grill Bar & Grill, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Brown’s Lake Golf Course

Located on Browns Lake Drive in Burlington, this course consists of 6,449 yards of courses for all levels and ages. Rates include senior discounts and mid-day specials. Ives Grove Golf Course

Designed as a links-style course open to both private and public members, golfers encounter 110 bunkers, nature areas and rolling greens. It has a new practice facility, fully stocked pro shop and Bar & Grill Fairway Café, open daily at 6 a.m., offering breakfast and lunch. Book or host meetings and parties in either of the three seating areas including the main dining room, small, private banquet room or the outdoor pavilion. Johnson Park Golf Course

While still a public golf course, Johnson Park Golf Course plays host to the Wisconsin PGA Junior Tour, Racine Tri-Course and the prestigious Junior Masters. Its 18-hole course is both challenging and a spectacle in natural beauty, bordering the Root River and thick wooded surroundings. Features include individual, series, group and playing lessons, online store and Root River Bar & Grill. The clubhouse provides a menu with numerous buffet food options, including hot dogs, burgers, BBQ chicken breasts and beverages ranging from bottled soda, water and Gatorade to domestic cans of beer. Meadowbrook Country Club

This private golf course plays host to the annual junior golf tournament featuring the best youth golfers from all across the state! With 18-holes, it boasts both stunning and difficult courses for the advanced golfer. The restaurant is open to the public with lunch and dinner options. Racine Country Club

This golf course and country club is the area’s best private course and club complete with a fitness center, KidZone, tennis courts, pool, fine dining, and over 200 acres of beautifully landscaped courses for an enjoyable golfing experience. Shoop Golf Course

This fantastic, 9-hole golf course runs along the shores of Lake Michigan. It is a great public golf course for all ages and levels. For added convenience, golf carts are available to rent and can be used on holes 1-4 and 9. Various rate options are available including general, senior and junior, with junior golf leagues available for golfers ages 14 and under. South Hills Golf Course

Established in 1927, this 9- and 18-hole course is open to the public and offers special senior and junior rates. Leagues begin in the spring before golf season is in full swing with golfers looking forward to the annual Charity Golf Outing. Stop on over for food and refreshments at the Bushwood Bar and Grill, open Monday through Friday evenings during the summer. On the weekends and Mondays, pull up in a cart for a quick sandwich or beverage at the Grab ‘N Go Grill Hut. The Palmer Grand Ballroom is a large hall overlooking the first fairway of the course. Rivermoor Golf Club

One of southeastern Wisconsin’s most popular 18-hole golf courses, this semi-private complex offers the most enjoyable golfing experience with beautiful landscaping. It holds many golfing events throughout the year, including the Wisconsin State Juniors and Ladies Championship tournaments, Wisconsin State PGA Senior Championship, US Open Mid-Amateur Qualifying and more. Washington Park Golf Course

Located in Racine, WI, Washington Park Golf Course was opened in 1917 with an exciting 9-hole regulation course, boasting the longest tees at 5,518 yards for a par of 70! It is open for public play to all ages offering adult, senior and junior rates, as well as special adult and senior cart rates. Junior leagues and tournaments are also available throughout the year. Mulligan’s Mini-Golf & Driving Range

A favorite for kids’ birthday parties, corporate events and adult outings, this miniature golf course offers 18 beautifully landscaped putting greens. There is also a lighted driving range for practicing long drives, even when the sun goes down. Brown’s Lake

The busiest lake with four accessible boating ramps. The lake is full of Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Panfish, and Walleye. Visitors and residents alike enjoy kayaking and leisurely boating.

Eagle Lake

The smallest lake, predominately used for fishing for Musky, Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Walleye. There are two accessible boating ramps.

Wind Lake

The largest lake, also exclusive for fishing. Avid fishers find Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, and Catfish. There are two public-accessible boating ramps.

Lake Michigan

The second largest lake in the U.S., is just 15 minutes east of the village, offering numerous activities and sightseeing for all. Take a ride out on the open sea with 10 different lake cruises, take a lighthouse tour viewing 59 unique lighthouses or enjoy group scenic tours on the serene beaches. Don’t forget to dip your toes, take a swim or cruise the waves on this pristine lake with bodyboarding, jet skiing, kayaking, scuba diving, parasailing, tubing and so much more!

Runs through Quarry Lake Park, is popular for world-class fly-fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. You can ride along its current as it flows right into Lake Michigan, one of the Great Lakes bordering the eastern edge of Racine County. Other possibilities include scuba diving, speed boating, and sailing, jet skiing, parasailing, and tubing.

Racine Zoo

If you love animals from different areas of the world, then you’ll love the Racine Zoo, just 12 minutes east of Mount Pleasant. The 28-acre zoo includes more than 50 endangered species from lions, Amur tigers, black rhinos, and Andean bears, to wallaroos, orangutans, penguins, and more. Visitors and residents have the opportunity to hand-feed Masai giraffes at the North Shore Bank Giraffe Encounter located within the zoo. Families with children enjoy two playgrounds and the ZooChoo Express train. Feel free to bring a sack lunch at one of our picnic areas or enjoy a delicious meal at Max and Jenny’s Jungle Grill. The gift shop is open daily, and admission rates are affordable and include free parking.
