Assessment Appeals

About

After receiving an assessment notice, property owners can schedule a meeting with assessors during Open Book to ask questions about their assessed value, or request a review to present new information and seek changes. After Open Book, the Board of Review will meet to consider objections to assessed values.

Open Book – April 6 - April 28, 2026

During Open Book, property owners can discuss their assessed values with an assessor, learn more about any changes, and examine the assessment roll for properties across the Village.

Property owners may schedule a meeting with assessors during Open Book to discuss a property assessment. Please schedule a meeting by sending an email to Assessor@mtpleasantwi.gov or calling (262) 664-7822.

Walk-ins at Village Hall without an appointment may not be seen by the assessor at the time of arrival.

Reviews to seek changes to an assessment can also be requested by filing an Open Book Review Form (PDF). Property owners can offer new information for assessors to consider during that review. The forms are also available in person at Village Hall, 8811 Campus Drive. Please submit your completed Open Book form to Assessor@mtpleasantwi.gov or deliver to Village Hall.

If an error is discovered during a review, it can often be addressed at this time. Property owners are encouraged, but not required, to submit an Open Book Review request before filing a Notice of Intent and Objection Form with the Village Board of Review.

Property owners who wish to appeal to the Board of Review should file a Notice of Intent by 9:00 a.m. on May 12 with the Mount Pleasant Village Clerk. A Notice of Intent can be verbal or written, and must include at least the name of the property owner and address of the property.

Where to File:

NOTE: Property Owners are encouraged to also fill out and submit the Objection Form (PDF) while filing a Notice of Intent.

Property owners who missed the May 12 deadline to file a Notice of Intent may also complete and file the Objection Form with the Board of Review clerk in-person at Village Hall between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on May 14.
